If you’re a registered Republican in Lake County you may have recently received a text message “push” poll that completely misrepresents my public service to the people of Lake County. I have always put the people of Lake County first and that is why the developer special interests are coming after me now. They want to control our County Commission so that they can build more without any pushback from people like me.
 
My record of holding the line on taxes, common sense decision-making and standing up against big money special interests who don’t care about what’s best for Lake County is unquestionable.
 
Here are a few examples of why they want me out of their way:
 
I led the charge to stop the expansion of the landfill in Mount Dora on SR 46. The smell from this landfill is wreaking havoc on nearby residents and is a total eyesore at the gateway to Mount Dora.
 
I have fought against the annexation of rural lands that are being rezoned to high density subdivisions, and I have repeatedly asked (and begged) cities to change their policies to follow the County’s rural land use designation.
 
I proposed a county charter to protect rural lands from being rezoned by cities to high density subdivisions.
 
I have fought to stop illegal mining in the Wekiva Protection Area disguised as “farming”.
 
I have fought to stop the mining of the Lake Norris conservation area which would have completely destroyed Lake Norris Road, Hart Ranch Road, CR 44A and CR 437.
 
I voted against high density developments on CR 437 and opposed a large development adjacent to Wolf Branch Estates.

I understand the importance of protecting constitutionally guaranteed property rights and vested zoning rights (which also prevents expensive lawsuits against the County) while seeking out solutions to protect surrounding landowners.
 
I love Lake County and I have always put the interests of our residents first. I am not someone who can be controlled or influenced by the special interests who want to ruin our County for their own personal gain and I’ll keep fighting with you against these special interests who want to bulldoze the Lake County we love for their profit.
